So, last year when I graduated from high school, my English Lit teacher left a comment on my report that I had a "wry, quirky sense of ironic humour". Derive from that what you will.
Clearly, I'm Brackynn (although I do respond to my real name -- Grace -- as well). I'm eighteen, Australian and Arian. I'm just wrapping up my first year at university, studying classical music and music theatre, and in between coursework and the general hecticness of being a struggling actor/musician, I love to read and write. I'm especially fond of a good historical romance and anything a little bit disturbing. Or a lot disturbing, as the case may be!
Over the last couple of years, I've been working on my own novel, which I am currently in the process of ripping apart and rewriting. To break it up, I'm branching out into script-writing for the first time, which is proving challenging, but a lot of fun.
Anyway, I'm very much looking forward to getting to know some more people here -- see you all around!

Would love to see what you're writing! Post, critique, submit to $B$ and above all: have fun, dear.

Well, I mean it is the awesomest name in whole world. Seriously, though its the best.
Thats so funny though, I keep on finding people on this site that relate to people in my life.

Well, yes, when I made this thread it was sort of in the wee hours of the morning ... What can I say? I'm a night owl.
To be very general, my novel is about transience and repression of memory as experienced via toxic love affairs. Essentially, it's a slightly twisted and highly cynical historical romance set in Paris partly in the early twentieth century and partly during the fall of the Second Empire.
Since you're studying music...what instrument do you play (assuming you play one D: )?
I'm actually a singer, primarily -- that's the "instrument" I specialise in at university, anyway. But I do also play the piano. (And a little bit of the violin, but really, let's not go there.) One day, when I have the time and money on hand, I'd really love to learn how to play the guitar and the cello.

I love going to the opera! Saw a brilliant production of The Barber of Seville recently -- I love Rossini. My singing teacher is part of the chorus in our state opera company, so she sometimes gets permission to smuggle her students into dress rehearsals for free, which is awesome.

It's been awesome. We all work hard, but we're all doing something we love, so it all works out to be a really productive, creative atmosphere. I love, love love my MT friends!

I'm from WA -- a Perth girl. I've been to Adelaide a few times, though. It's such a charming city :)

Thanks for the welcome, Eriko!
I posted the first scene of "Midsummer", my script-in-progress, if you're interested in checking it out. It's a darker, more adult adaptation of Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" -- I was re-reading the play and it dawned on me exactly how scary some of the subject matter in this supposed comedy actually is ... hence, my version ;) Anyway, would love to hear what people think!
