Okay. . . these books are so good. I got the first one, Guilty Pleasures, for Christmas last year because my mom knew that I liked the books about vampires. Well, before I get into a long rant, let me tell you what the books are about:
It's about this 24 year old woman named Anita Blake. She's a necromancer who hunts vampires on the side. She's got this fiery attitude, always sarcastic, badass, you know? Well, she's a vampire hunter known to the vampires as The Executioner because she has the most legal vampire kills in the country.
The books are action-packed with blood, gore, violence, language; just your hardcore vampire books. The books are set in New Jersey, in an unknown time period. The first book was wrote in 1990-something. I don't have the book with me right now, so I can't look.
It's got one of the most amazing vampires you've ever read about. Screw Edward. Hell, screw that Twilight crap. This stuff is great.
If you like violence, gore, vampires, zombies, and anything else preternatural, then read the Anita Blake series.
I've only read 1-5, ie. Guilty Pleasures, The Laughing Corpse, The Circus of the Damned, The Lunatic Cafe, and Bloody Bones. I can't reveal anything because I don't want to ruin any of the books for you. There are sixteen books in total and Laurell K. Hamilton has I think two more books that complations of short stories, or something like that.
I recommened this series to anyone that enjoys vampires and violence. Oh, and a badass heroine.
