CNN just reported that Barack Hussein Obama is the next president of the United States, the first black president in our history. (Currently standing at 297 electoral votes to McCain's 139).
I'm really happy. That is all.
I was refreshing the polls page for like 1 hour, the I refreshed and it was like a huge pic of Obama that said mr. president on it and I ran screaming into my living room screaming Obama won and scared the shit outta my parents. Hell yea, I am so so so happy.

They called it at exactly 8:00 Pacific time, as soon as the polls closed. Apparently they aren't allowed to call it any earlier than that or they'll discourage the poor little westerners from voting. :P
Yay Obama!

A lot has to be said about Obama too. His name and his skin color. We're talking about a guy who came out of nowhere, had a name that is far too easy to equate with terrorism (for a lot of Americans, not me, but you have to understand why that is, considering post-9/11 America) and he had a mostly-white America to battle again, many of whom are still very much racist, or have racist tendencies even if they don't know it.
And he is now our president. I feel like crying. This is so incredible.
P.S.: Add to that that Obama is bi-racial. He's not even fully black, but a mixture. That just takes things a step up too.

^Agreed
What's ironic, though, is that during the campaign people said it's not about race. Now they are all talking about Dr. King and how we now have a African-American president and it IS about race. Sigh. I do agree it is a HUGE step for America's racism issues. Just pointing it out.

Well the election itself wasn't necessarily about race, but the end result is about race. Most Americans, contrary to polls, really didn't care that Obama was black. They cared about his politics. Obama didn't win because he's black. He just lost a certain group of voters because of his race, so for some it was about race, but overall it wasn't really.

OBAMA! :D
ONE LETTER AWAY FROM OSAMA! I DON'T CARE. AS LONG AS HE DOES THE WORLD GOOD! MUAHAHAH! I THINK I LEFT MY CAPS LOCK ON...
No, seriously, I think that's quite incredible. That's history right here :D Boy, I love to shove this news in some KKK leader's face and laugh.

Little essay I wrote...
“Freedom is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.”
-Martin Luther King Jr.
There comes a time in all our lives where an event shatters the molds of continuity.
Where something changes our lives and brings out our best selves. Where we find strength where there was weakness.
Where we find hope in where there was despair.
Where we find love in where there was hate.
Where the light overcomes the darkness and the veil before our eyes is lifted.
That event happened today.
Tear drops fall upon the keyboard before me. My heart screams inside me in liberation and content. Across the nation, across the world, tonight’s events change our time.
November Fourth, 2008.
I’ll never forget.
I’ll never be prouder to be American than tonight.
Never be more overjoyed and pleased with my countrymen than after the epic resolution of an eight year plague.
We, the people, the people of the United States of America have elected Barack Obama as the leader of the free world.
Where failed policies and economic downturn have plagued our nation, where war and death and evil men have gone unstopped, where hope became a distant thought and wish, today, those things are gone.
Today, tomorrow, and for the rest of our lives, the greatest country in the world showed its true colors.
Calamities and disasters and epic fuck ups have plagued our nation and the world. For the longest time we hoped and wished for change.
For someone to come and lead us up the staircase to freedom.
We wished for a torch bearer in these dark and terrible times and tonight, he came.
Some people believe in God or Jesus Christ. Some people believe in Allah or Mother Mary. I believe in Barack Obama.
Tonight, my heart swells at the beauty of my country. Our country. The country of liberators, idealists, patriots and freedom.
Tonight, the poor, the working class, the single mothers and fathers can look forward to a better tomorrow.
No matter who you are, no matter what you stand for, tonight will forever be a defining moment in history.
You’ll never forget where you were when you heard the news.
The world is changing.
Together, we the American people ascend the stairs to a better place. We do so holding hands, united, standing together, and before us, in the widening darkness, a bright light leads us.
He changed my life.
He changed thousands of lives.
He changed history and kicked down the door and its wooden sign that read, “The End”.
Together in a crowd we move forward.
Together as a nation we move forward.
Together as inhabitants of this Earth, we move forward.
And we all saw it happen.
Never, ever forget.

I woke up this morning, and I feel about the nation in a different way than I did yesterday.
It's the strangest, strangest feeling.
I hope my first vote ever can go to Barack Obama -- NFs in the office! Obama 2012!! Perhaps it's too early to be saying that ... Nice to think that he's an NF, though.

Everyone was talking about it at school today.

Obama wasn't the best man for president (out of all the nominees for presidential-elect in all the parties) but I'm happy he won. Anything's better tha McCain, he could drop dead any minute (but of course there's the suspicion that Obama will be assassinated, so he might do just the same, just not from old age).
In summary from all that mindless gabble: I'm very happy Obama won! Hopefully, he can change America, but not turn it into a Socialist state. I don't think he'll ever eradicate racism, though, cos there's still like 50, 000 or more KKK members out there and that's just a small portion of the people who still hate blacks.
Well the election itself wasn't necessarily about race, but the end result is about race. Most Americans, contrary to polls, really didn't care that Obama was black.
Finally, the voice of reason! :)
I admit, I didn't vote for Barack due to his policies. However, I am glad that despite that, BIG step forward for racial equality! Just imagine....40 years ago there was so much segregation in this country. And now, this! :approve:
All this talk of assassinations...if it were to happen, it would be just...hell. Total hell, total step backward.

As I said before, the KKK are still looming and active. I don't believe we'll ever end racism in America, but if Obama is a successful president, then it will certainly eradicate a lot of it.

Do you know why he said "Bonjour," at the very end? It's really bothering me.
Never mind, I just looked it up.
Otherwise, I have nothing to say, except that Mark Shields wins QoTD.
