Okay, in your opinion, what's the best book out there? Not necessarily your favorite one, but the one that really stands on top of the rest? And on what criteria did you determine it? Style, plot, characters...

And you can't choose the Bible, because I'm aiming for something that was written by just one person.

I'm gonna go with 1984. It has everything I like in a good book. Plot, characters, very interesting, and scary, it's a warning.

I almost chose LOTR, but it has lots of infodumps and description.

Oh so I can't use Strunk & White's then? Darn! :P

Umm, well I'd have to go with 1984 by George Orwell also...I mean, it's one of the greatest books ever written and still to this day, despite the year 1984 passing by and the things in the book not fully true, it is powerful and an example of how governments can go overboard. Anyone who hasn't read the book SHOULD. Or else :P.

Alternately I would say that Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card is another awesome book, but it's not quite as book as 1984 obviously, but still damn good. And when are they going to get the stupid movie for Ender's Game out? Sheesh, I've been waiting for that for forever!

Never read 1984, perhaps I should check it out. Well as it stands now I would have to say that I think Tale of Two Cities is the best book I've ever read. I just absolutely love it. It's a great story and uses great foreshadowing, that book is how I always explain to people what foreshadowing is...

A Tale of Two Cities starts out far too slowly and confusingly. I'm not kidding when I say it took me two months to read the first few chapters. :P

1984 has too many extracts of books in it, otherwise I might agree ...

The Brothers Karamazov, though I couldn't really give good reason to why.. It's just one of those books you should really, really read before you die. Hah.

Hmm? Peter and Jane for toddlers? It's really amusing and I laugh a lot reading it.

Here is Peter, here is Jane.
New words: Here, is, Peter, Jane

Why didn't I see this!

I'd say, for me...Scorpia, by Anthony Horowitz.

Catcher in the Rye.

The style, the anti-hero, the angst, the cultural impact...

After all, how many books can say they killed John Lennon? ;)

My best book would be Forest of Secrets by Erin Hunter.

I haven't read 1984, I'll read it when our teacher stops dumping book reports on us.
Anyways, I think Ender's Game is definately a great book. And I'm not sure if I want a movie of it, I think it'd take away from the book if they screw up some of the special effect stuff.

Read 1984. Trust me, one of the best books ever written.
