View Full Version : Need a 'Harsh Critique' Picture!
In response to Alex's old thread (http://www.youngwritersonline.net/showthread.php?t=1724) and my time getting freed up, I'm looking for a small picture that people can use to say that their piece of writing is open to merciless critiques. Basically, they don't care about critics going easy on them or their morale getting hurt. This image would appear next to all threads marked with this icon, and when critiquing it, a message would appear beside it.
A 16 x 16 pixel image would be best. My main problem is deciding what the picture should be of: I'd like something that indicates toughness without seeming irrelevant or confusing (a sword or a red 'X' would be irrelevant or confusing). Something like three red pens would be okay.

Maybe we could just have an image that looks like someone stabbing a book?

with a book instead of the cat...
(My dog is insanely attacking and molesting her little bed... it's frightening...)
or are we looking for just a simple icon?

Maybe that would work if it was re-sized. It doesn't look bad smaller, I've tried it.
I think a book being stabbed would be a cool pic if we could find one?

I like the stabbed book. Maybe stabbed with a quill? I would fiddle around with the idea in image editting, but it's too late tonight... tomorrow.
EDIT: I found this online. It's the title artword for chapter 17 in Harry Potter 2.

Eh, I think that different levels is too complicated, at least right now. Either a person wants a hard critique or he/she doesn't.
And why would someone want a "soft" critique intentionally anyway? That's a sign of an insecure/bad writer and honestly, I don't believe we should be encouraging that behavior.
