Just wondering if anyone is into Folk/Blues/Jazz around here. Seems to me that these genres of music have meaning (which is rare in our world). If you enjoy bands from any of the genres i have named, tell me the names and post a comment.

I love jazz and blues! I havn't really listened to folk. I should do that. Anyway I love Dizzy Gilespie, Jelly Roll Morton, Duke Elington, Etta Jane, Michael Buble. I really like blues but I don't know the names of meny performers. Who originally sang the song "Chigago"? I think thats the name. I also love classical music. It is another genre of music with meaning. One of my favorites is Adagio for Strings. I also like Vivaldi's Pachaballs Canon and Four Seasons.

It's funny how people actually think meaning in music has been destroyed by modern stuff. Ever tried listening to progressive rock/metal? That's truly the only meaning in music, save classical.
Oh god, when I saw that you've posted in this thread, Shad, I thought you were going to say you're a folk music fan O_o

Haha that is awesome! My last name is Fischer. Probly no relation though. *Sigh* Do you play an instrument? The trumpet is my main instument, but I also play piano, steel drums, sing in choir, and play quads in our schools winter percussion ensemble. I believe music is one of the greatest joys in life that too many people take for granted and don't take as seriosly as they should. There's nothing else in this world that compares to it. :violin: :flute: O_o (Even though I don't play either of the instruments the smileys have. they didn't have a trumpet...or any of the others I play..):D

Ha, as if. Just trying to assert the point that the stereotypical view of rock being stupid is wrong.

Any music with deep lyrics and emotional sound is meaningful.

never suggested that newer music was stupid. i thought the prejudice was against older music nowadays. and to answer elephnt's question, i play the drums. check out this video on youtube, it's a great song if one pushes bias' aside. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqbTPVvZ5pA

I really like it, I hadn't heard of that band before but I do rather like them. You braodend my horizons today :D Have you heard of the Squirrel Nut Zippers? They are an older band, not around anymore. Listen to this,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m1DISNYj0QU This is one of my favorite songs by them. Have you heard of Return to Zero (also known as Four for A Dollar)? They arn't very famous. I know they sing at Disney Land/World (which ever one is in Florida) they are really cool, and have you ever listened to Adagio for Strings? It is absolutely amazing.

I really liked the first two, I coudn't listen to the third my computer would't let me it's acting up. I'll listen to it Friday at my grandmas. I'v heard "The Shape I'm In" before done by a different band as a cover but I like the version you showed me much better. The Squirrel Nut Zippers are one of my favorite bands, a "squirrel nut zipper" is actually a type of candy its really old, not around anymore, but I found some at a candy shop in vermont they're really good. This is Adagio for strings, I'm not sure who the compser is, I could look it up but I don't have time at the moment. The band director at our school first had us listen to it last year during one of our listenings in winter percussion practice. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RRMz8fKkG2g This is a link to a song by Return to Zero, I'v never been down to see them but Mr. Meyer has had us listen to them multiple times in listenings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HMnUUgzD-J4
