Who would win and why? Debate amongst yourselves.

Vishnu = Protector = probably a pacifist
Loki = Trickster = cunning and downright devilish
Loki's gonna win. BAM. Besides, he's got his strange children on his side: an eight-legged horse, ruler of Hell, the Fenrir wolf (that will kill Odin, king of the gods) and the serpent that encompasses the whole world.
Even if he didn't have those resources, he'd still kick Vishnu's butt. Granted, Loki is, according to Norse tradition, chained to rocks right now as serpent venom is dripping on his face. But still! He's got the whole sly and cunning like the devil thing going on.
Or do you mean this in a serious sense?

Ah, but he can't use his strange children. These are one on one battles. The previous one was Jesus vs. Zeus, but neither could use their children, friends, or parents.
So, Loki can't have any of his children. Just Loki :P

I agree. Vishnu is actually, I read on Wiki, an omnipotent being. Loki is simply the god of trickery. If it was Fenris versus Vishnu, Fenris would have won because Fenris is specifically geared to win against Chief Gods. But Loki is just a trickster, without much power.
I go for Vishnu on this one.

Despite me loving Loki cos he's evil and a trickster, Vishnu would win, yes.

Um, Loki. Loki trashed pretty much everyone in the entire Norse pantheon. He could take on one lone God who wasn't aware of what he was capable of.
He did have the support of all the giants and trolls, all the dead non-heroes, his monstrous brood (I won't count Sleipneir, only his children Angrboda gave birth to. While he did give birth to the horse, it's Odin's steed), and a ship made out of dead men's finger nails... so I think his force was more powerful.
But still, I will concede that Vishnu will be unable to preserve anything with Loki around.
