Lyrics section?

I was wondering why instead of having a lyrics section, we cram in the lyrics with the poetry...:confused:

We could add one. Nobody's brought this up before, but if enough people want one, sure.

Well it's not a big deal, we only have a couple of songwriters. But it might help for new members as well if some songwriters decide to join and then see that there's not a lyrics section...it's kind of a turn-off.

I still won't post my lyrics on the site because I am not interested in critiques but lyrics and poetry are different so they should have their own different places.

I'm not going to post there... It's a good idea for song writers... But not, Phantom, she is 'orrible at poerty... Therefore she can't write songs worth a crap... :O

Lyrics are the words of a poem set to music. All songs are poems, but not all poems are songs. Like, even in English classrooms a lot of the poems that we read are actually songs--or if set to music, could be considered songs. For example, nearly all of Emily Dickinson's poems are song to the tune of "A Yellow Rose in Texas." Likewise, English folk ballads, which were originally sung can just as easily be read as poetry.

One question, though. Do you think it should be under the Poetry Header, or Other Work?

Poetry I guess. But you'd be better off with a songwriter's -cough- Zomb -cough- opinion.

Yes, under poetry would be fine.

Lyrics basically are an extension off of poetry so it makes sense to put it under there.

Okay, the Lyrics section has been added. The Points System should automatically work with it. :)

No, we had lyrics combined with poetry until now.
