Hey! The names Elfy, and I've been writing for a little while, but really want to start writing more often and basically get as much experience as possible. I've ran my own (small) forum, which eventually died....multiple times. I really enjoy writing, and wish to pursue it in the future as a hobby, or possibly a career. I'd just like to get to know some users before I start, so if you want to introduce yourself, then I'd really appreciate it.
PS. I need a good signature, any suggestions??
Hey, Elfy! I'm Andy, and I like writing fantasy, but have yet to publish anything. I'm also one of the two admins here. So, :welcome:
For your signature, put in some famous quotes. And a word count meter for your book.
What genres and such do you write in?
Majyk

Hello, and welcome to YWO. I'm Majyk, or Maj, whichever works, and I might as well say that I write fantasy novels. Be active, critique stuff, have fun, and I'll see you around ^^. Oh, and be a :ninjasign:
What genres and such do you write in?
Yeah, what he said.
Elvenscholar

I normally write fantasy, but might dabble every now and then in realistic stories.
For the most part, I start writing novels, and never come anywhere near finishing them, which is pretty much why I joined this site. I figure the more I read others works, the more I myself will be inspired to write.
Majyk
08-12-2008, 11:46 PM
Ah. When you post a story (if it's fantasy), feel free to PM me for a critique on it.

Will do.
How do I set up a word count meter?
Hey! Welcome.
Sig suggestions? Quote me in it and you can't go wrong :P

You either click the little thing on the far corner of the reply box when you're in advance, or, type this (only with your own numbers) :

Haha, it's manual. I update mine all the time, it's no big deal, really.

Alright, just hoping against all reason that it was automated.... don't ask me how.
And thanks to everyone for the introductions, I'm gonna need all the help I can get :P.

Agh! I love your signature, Elfy! Don't tell me...
Guardian Angel, by The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, right?
You and I should get along great... but I knew that from your name.
So... fantasy... Fun stuff, isn't it? It's pretty basically the one and only creative part of my life besides music. And I don't 'create' that; I just put it on repeat on my iPod for ungodly amounts of time... hehe... he...
Sorry. My name explains it.
Call me Random.
Really.

I'm going to put this as nicely as possible:
Hi, I'm Shay, but call me Seiko. Welcome to YWO. ^^
BE A NINJASQUIRREL OR YOU'LL WAKE UP IN A TUB OF ICE IN MRS. THEODORE'S CLASSROOM WITH YOUR KIDNEYS MISSING. >D
-ahem- I'm also one of the most random personas here, so be afraid.

Ah yes, the ninja-pirate-llama thing. I'll lay it down for you:
You should choose ninjas because:
a) they use kick-ass moves and weaponry
b) they aren't disease-ridden
c) they can travel anywhere
d) they don't do disgusting things like spit
You should not choose pirates or llamas because:
a) pirates are drunkards who can't fight because they're intoxicated and llamas haven't got opposable thumbs
b) pirates have several diseases and llamas walk around in their own excrement all day
c) pirates are restricted to boats and llamas are restricted to fields
d) pirates constantly rape women and start fights and llamas do spit

How nice. Unfortunately for you, you can never convince me llamas are better than ninjas. Nor can you prove GRRM is better than any other author's works I've read until I read them. For all I know, Paolini could be better.

I repeatedly told Shaun the importance of reading George R. R. Martin (since he's a sci-fi/fantasy book reviewer), and he got so annoyed with me that he threatened to never read the series. He says that it's all my fault -- more Shaun logic, because he's the only one deciding what he reads. It doesn't bother me that he hasn't read it yet, but it really bothers me that he threatens me with it. But now that he's proclaimed he'll never read it, I have nothing to lose, so I can keep bugging him if I so wish.
These things would be so much easier if he just read the damn series. If he has pride, well, let him never tell me he read them. It's just ... -sigh- Gah.
I used to never understand religious fanatics, but I like to think I'm a bit closer to seeing their point of view. What with my new religion and all, and me actually having feelings about it ... This is all rather distressing.

I read the first two pages, then looked up and saw my Wii and couldn't resist. Plus, I have to de-wasp my room. I had a half hour fight with one before I managed to splat it. And I've gotta finish watching Saw 3.
Edit: Sorry. Started writing this before you posted, Andrew.

I write fantasy, some medieval, some modern.
And to random, I enjoy writing, music, and school sports, I'm currently in highschool, but work part time at two restaurants as a dishwasher, and yes, I do enjoy moonlit walks near bodies of water.
Lastly, I think I'll go with Ninjamages, there more my style.

Carr, my problem isn't that I don't want to read GRRM, I just don't like being constantly reminded that I need to read his work. It ruins the reading experience for me when people continuously hype a book, and if I can't read a book and enjoy it as a book there's no point in reading it. I have to let the hype die down before I read the books. There are a lot of books that I should read that I won't right now because everyone gets all excited and screams at me to read them.
I will read them one day, but right now I need to focus on other things, and you know that. I have a lot of books to do for review, then school work, etc. I have things that have to come first.
And I'm not actually mad at you. So if you think that I am, I'm not. Take most anything I say outside of the debate room as either me being weird or sarcastic or some other form of something that shouldn't be taken entirely seriously.
