This is officially my all time favorite book. Steven Gould has an awesome style, and creates one of the most realistic heroes I've ever seen. (For the record, this book is way different then the movie. There are only a few similarities).

This book is about Davy, a teenager with a drinking, abusive father, and a mom that just left one day, never coming or writing back. After learning he can 'jump' (Gould uses this to describe the teleporting) he runs away to New York to get away from his father and discover what he can really do with his power.

The first half of the story is spent with Davy dealing with living in New York at age 17, falling in love, searching for his mother, and looking desperately for others like him so he can ascertain that he isn't alone.
The second half becomes a bit of a thriller as the government becomes aware of his actions, and tries to capture him/ bring him to their side.

This story even creates a hero you don't see very often. Because of the situation Davy is in (He's alone in New York, he gets mugged, he was beat as a kid, his mom left, etc) he cries at times, throws fits that lead to very bad results, etc. It was an interestingly new experience for me, and I highly recommend it.

Although, if you're a little young or get freaked out by sex you shouldn't read this. There is a lot of sexual things that happen (Especially in the sequel Reflex), and someone almost gets raped.

For an excerpt of the first chapter of this book, go to google, and look up 'Jumper Excerpt'. It should be the first link you see.

I've heard that the book was good, but the movie was horrible! :D

I agree, Rafael. It wasn't that great (Although I loved the special effects). But you should really give this book a try. I think the reason the movie was weird was because it was actually a combination of the two books Jumper and Jumper: Griffin's Story. (I haven't read Griffin's story yet, but I read an excerpt and thought it was cool).

For those who want an excerpt from the first chapter, go to google and type in
Jumper Excerpt. It should be the first link.

Didn't know that it was a book first. I actually liked the movie so I might try and get my hands on the book.
