A lot of discussion has been going on behind the scenes and we'd like to know whether you'd actually buy a PDF version of the magazine if it were $3.00. Be completely honest please. It won't hurt our feelings if you answer one way or another :P.

I wouldn't.
I already expressed my displeasure at this earlier.
I am already upset that books are being made into little hand held device things that are like iPods for books. It pisses me off. My favorite writer talks about books becoming obsolete and becoming less purchased as the years go on and that troubles me.
We're all here because we want to get published one day, this is exactly the kind of thing that makes it harder for us.
Books are meant to be held in our hands, for us to smell the ink when we first get them. Nothings better than going to a bookstore and smelling the pages of new books and seeing the millions of titles they have.
PDF?
What is that going to accomplish? I don't like the idea.
I am old school. Maybe I just don't want to change the way things are, but if I am going to be reading a magazine by the site that I contribute to, I want to see it in print and hold it in my hands.
I won't be buying a PDF version. I am going for the real deal.
Its a magazine.
Not a giant email.

Understood. I get what you mean. We're concerned at this point over how much we're going to have to charge for a print version. The cost of a PDF can be kept relatively stable, whereas printing a hardcopy depends on a number of factors such as cost of ink, cost of paper, software, hardware (printer and a stapler, or something to make saddle stitching easy), etc.
One thing that was brought up was having a PDF for the magazine and then a year's best anthology at the end of the year that would be half-stuff from the mag and half-new stuff. I personally want to keep the magazine affordable. There are a lot of things to consider about this and I do understand your dislike for electronic based reading.

Just an update...
Lulu apparently announced some changes and they are offering a digest format for printing. It's a cheaper format, which is good, so I'm keeping an eye on it. If it proves to be useful to SBS, we'll be using it, since it could save you guys money, but there might be restrictions on size and what not.
In any case, though you all should know!

Despite what Zomb said, I think you should try it. If you're old school, Zomb, don't use the internet for research, entertainment, information and contacting people. Use books and write letters. No matter how much people complain about the internet, far more people want it to stay. I think a PDF version would make the magazine more widespread and allows people who can't buy the magazine (i.e. me) to buy it via the internet and thus make it a lot easier. I'm not saying it should all be in PDF, but giving a PDF version would make it more widespread and thus more advertising, money and viewing of YWO's writers' work.

We are doing a PDF, we're just not doing only a PDF. We'll have other stuff.

Kitkat- O_o. Please, please, don't even post something like that. Please.
Anyway, PDF would be nice. I do rather having a actual copy but it's less convienent. I may buy it then. But if I'm going to go through ordering something, I can just wait for a real copy. So I'm on the fence.
