The point system is almost complete. I've got some photos here to show you what it will look like. Ignore the fact that I'm using the blue style. It will work fine in gray as well.

Note that these pictures only apply to the Literature forums. The Community area won't change at all.

If you have enough points to submit your piece, you'll get this screen:

If you don't have enough points:

When critiquing something:

When replying in your own thread. Note that you can choose to either give comments or submit more of your stuff. If you don't have enough points, you won't be able to choose "Submit More..."

One last one. This is a picture of my story's thread. Here you can see the difference between a "reply" post and a "more submissions post."

The option you choose when replying (see above photo) will determine the bold text at the top of your post:

^ The color for new submissions also changes.http://s101.photobucket.com/albums/m71/teenwrite/?action=view&current=ps1_newthread.gif

I found a way to change the background of submission posts in your literary threads! :)

Only problem is that older posts will have to be edited manually by a staff member.

<<<<< The gray part where your name is.

If you pay points for a post, the color will be different.

Wow ...

As long as you don't go all FWOOM with the colors, I'm fine with it. -thumbs up-

Yeah, I got that. ;) I want it to stand out, but not to the point where it hurts your eyes. Maybe just a darker gray will do.

Imelda, you're weird.

They should all be lurid pink. :)

PS. Sorry, Andrew, I just feel like randomly spamming with stupid comments. Tell me to shut up if you want. :p

Do we get to choose our color options? Or are they randomly chosen for us? Or is there only one option?

Woah, it'd be cool if we could choose our color, would that be possible?

I think that would clash too much. Especially if people start picking lurid pink or neon green or something. I think a coordinated color scheme works much better (especially since the YWO color scheme is blue, and I like blue :] )!

But there could be some certain colours to choose from? Like only colours that match...a.k.a nothing neon xD

Yes, it would be possible to let people choose colors, but from a programmer's perspective, it wouldn't be practical.

For now I'm going to make it a darker form of gray, for both the blue and gray styles. Shouldn't be painful on the eyes, but should be easy to spot if people are scrolling down the thread.

Then we'll have people always wanting to add new colors. :)

And you could just ignore them xD

Like orange?

Awww, the colour thing sounds great, maybe you could only have the colour palete for the text as options, then you wouldn't get horrid pinks etc.

Umm...Can I ask a question?
What if you need to change a post of a story for grammar reasons? Just editing? Do you have to pay for that? In points, I mean.

Andy

No. You can edit things without points.

You can also make a new post or thread with points if you want. That has the added benefits of appearing in the New Literature link, and keeping the newer critiques separated from the older ones (which IMO is good if you changed something drastically).
