Yup, we've accepted two works of fiction for the first issue of the magazine! Congrats to the authors. We'll be working with them over the next few weeks, or months if necessary, before release.

We're still OPEN to submissions, folks. We really would like to see some poetry and more fiction too (perhaps some science fiction, mystery, literary fiction, or even a western would be nice). We've accepted a semi-fantastic story and a psychological horror story so far, and have seen more dark fantasy than anything else (which is fine, we're not knocking it, because we like it). We want everything, especially some poetry. Go on, submit! You know you want to!

Anywho, congrats to the authors we've accepted! Now get writing. Don't forget there is still a contest going on for short fiction! ANYONE can enter it peeps. Even people who have already submitted or been accepted. You can find out more about that here: http://www.youngwritersonline.net/showthread.php?t=1134

Submit!

How is that story semi-fantastic? It's dystopia more than anything. You suck at genres, Shaun.

Seriously, guys, submit. I haven't even complained about reading the subs yet, which means we don't have nearly enough. :p

Leviathan...hello, that's semi-fantastic right there.

Wasn't that the pshohotrrlogical horror? O_o

And there are enough large creatures in the ocean for it to not be at all fantastical.

Yes, this the story specifically presents it as a Biblical representation of a myth.

Well I took it as more of a metaphor. It kind of reminded me of the Kraken Wakes by Wyndham. Only shorter ...

Hmm, well I guess that makes sense.

I have a story, but my parents want to check with lawyers before I give Shaun and Imelda my full name.

I think they forgot about that, actually. I'll remind them today.

You're not going to get the law on us, are you? *worried*

Do you actually have to do that? Can't you just publish under your screenname?

I haven't even read the mag's rules. ><

Nah, I really doubt anything's going to come of it. If the lawyer-dude finds anything, it'll probably some loophole that he'll help you guys fix.

Wait, what? You're serious about the lawyer? Wow! Free legal advice!

Shaun

I have to have her real name because her parents are going to sign a contract for her work. Not sure why they are checking with lawyers. It's common sense. She would need to give her real name, address, and phone number if she were submitting to any other magazine. I just need her real name.

I don't actually think they're checking if it's legal; they're checking if it's safe.

Shaun

Umm, what's unsafe about it? The only people that HAVE to know who you are are Lindsey and I. You can use a penname for public use if you want.

Not whether giving you my name is unsafe, but whether you two lovely people are unsafe.

I think ... I'm not entirely sure. I've also done some research, and there's a lot you can find with my full name and my IP Address, if you know what you're looking for. xP

Yeah but you have to remember Shaun is a technological retard, and I'm across the sea.

You could get a restraining order on us, then we couldn't stalk you!

Besides, I have to be better than you at something.

Shaun

Fine, be better than me in that and I'll just go poop on the floor since I don't understand technology.

Uh. . .yeah. . .I wanna submit my poem called "At the End of ALl Things."

How do I go about doing this?

And don't worry Shaun, I can't work Photoshop either.

I'm not sure about using my real name. I think I'll just have the pseudonym "Scotty McGee."

I'd like to get a story in but...
My mom doesn't like the idea.

I'll see if I can submit one of my Wolfgang short stories in. But really, you didn't tell me whether publishing a short story would jeopardize me publishing the whole novel latter on. What I want to know is that if I publish the short story now, I can still publish the novel later. :D

Imelda
07-25-2008, 08:53 AM
You can, Raf. In fact if you already have related world stuff published, then that's be really impressive. :p

Shaun
07-25-2008, 09:11 AM
No, it won't hurt your chances to publish the novel. Imelda is right: it will help you.
I was just a little confused what you meant by publishing a short story and then the novel. I didn't get the connection at first. So yes, it would be good to publish a short related to your world.
