Yes, neopets. Does anyone remember this? Does anyone remember using it?

Well, I stumbled upon it a couple of hours ago... one thing led to another and I was playing those games for quite a while... and it was fun, I don't care if it still looks like a ten year old's playhouse, Poker and Cheat! are fun to play, and I got a lot of money... or points... or whatever... ...

so yeah, that's how low I sunk today :)

So yeah, just wanted to see if anyone remembered and enjoyed using it in it's prime..... which I think was six years ago... ... ... ... ...

Neopets is where I learned to roleplay. No, seriously, it is. I also love to tell people that without Neopets, I would have never started writing, because my very first plot was based on a roleplay character's background.

I just went on again a few weeks ago, laughed at my 2,000,000 NP inventory, and then skipped over to the roleplay boards -- and realized with shock that the people considered to be "advanced literate" players are grammatically correct, but terribly cliche.

Games, though ... they're addicting until I remember that I'm not going to spend my 2,000,000 NP anyway. I'm just going to keep hoarding forever, if I go on again at all.

I used to be addicted. That was a while ago though, atleast a couple of years. But it was fun. They've made some changes though and it looks kinda dumb now.

I had a beautiful user lookup. I designed it myself, and it was beautiful. I could fall in love with it, but then they changed the layout, and it looked like it was just black and pink. Grrr ....

Also, Toothie was invented for a Neopets roleplaying guild. La Lune de L'Oblieration. Yes, I'm too lazy for the accents.

The topic is, er, neopets, right? I hated my SN for having numbers in it. I made it when I was too young and naive to care that it had numbers in it, or that I was about to waste a good chunk of my life on that site.

I guess I shouldn't blame neopets, but I got so easily suckered in by it until I was a total geek. I guess I should blame my parents or something. Hmm. Or my friends.

Anyway, I had some good times. Some laughs. Phantom Orange Shirt Guy.

Ah, it was always incredibly easy for me to come up with original names. I came up with Carraka, after all ...

But I remember thinking that once I published my book, I would gauge its popularity by searching for user names and pet names related to the character names in my book.

Aaah, Neopets. Such fond memories. Hacking past the block on it on the school computers, for one (I love nerd schools :]). So yeah, we got really into it in 5th grade (during which I was moderately obsessed) but I stopped entirely a few months into 6th grade.

But then last summer, hanging out with a bunch of completely insane people during summer health class who had revived their old accounts, I went and created a new one during class. But then I never got a chance to play it. :[ I wonder if it's still there...

I watched the extended version before the ... unextended version? So I never knew how spoiled I was, until someone gave me the unextended RoTK for Christmas and I went all -- Saruman didn't die!

I think I've had a Scorchio, Acara, Eyrie, Lupe, Peophin, Poogle, and ... a Xweetok? I always wanted one of those Hissis ...

But then I got Toothie, and he pretty much overshadowed everything else, even those he wasn't a Neopet.
