So I'm writing this story which I hope I will be able to turn into a novel someday, but I'm having a huge block. I have the begining and end down pat. I've already written most of the beginning, and the end is written on paper somewhere. But the middle is killing me. I have no idea what kind of stuff to put for the middle. I have ally characters that I want my main character to meet, and plenty of villain characters, but I'm not sure where to put them. It's become so bad, I can barely write anymore. Any ideas or advice you guys can give would be great.

And here's an overview of the beginning and end so you can help better.

Beginning: A boy named Kumello finds a scroll in the woods near his village. He opens it, despite a warning from the local hermit Jolee, but finds that its blank. However not soon after monsters attack and destroy his village looking for the scroll. After being saved by Jolee, it is revealed that the scroll contains vital information for the Emperor. So Kumello sets out with Jolee to deliever the scroll.

End: The Emperor sends Kumello and his army to defend a valuable outpost town from the same monsters that attacked Kumello's village. Kumello gets separated from the main army, and is forced to take on the leader of the monsters alone. He kills the leader, and the monster retreat. Meanwhile the Emperor discovers that his main advisors have been assassinated.

And that's the jist of it. I have no idea what to do for the middle. So please help.

Well, you can take all sorts of typical story events and then work them out so they fit the story. Examples:

meeting new people
someone in the group is revealed as a traitor
learning about the enemy, their goals, their outposts/bases, their leaders and plans
get captured once or twice.
learning how the scroll got there, and learning how to read it if it is blank

So yeah. That should give you some things to work on. I'm doing the same thing with my story, except with multiple books, so I know how you feel. :) If you'd like some more specific help, just ask.

dont take ideas from others for your own writing. if you do, then it's really not yours is it?
