Here are the rules:
No calculus. Unless it's really easy calculus. You can put anything on here from basic algebra to weird adding/subtracting problems, to even clever math riddles. Just make sure they're not so complicated that nobody can figure them out :P.
So here is my question:
3+5-7+(4-2)= ???

3? I'm not very good at math. I forgot wether I should add the numbers before I subtract, in which case it would be 3+5-7+2 --> 8 - 9, but I don't think it works out like that. :D
3 x 3 x 3 x 3 x 3?

:P
(it's 17 Raf... I think)
x^2+y^2=(7 * 6)+4^-2

(it's 17 Raf... I think)
x^2+y^2=(7 * 6)+4^-2
8 MINUS 9, George! :P
And I hate you. How am I supposed to solve that? :D
GeorgeMichael

... ... I swear that minus sign used to be a plus sign... -.- :P
ok, then it's three, congratulations :P you win, now solve mine :)
It's Kindergarten stuff Raf!
:D My teacher says that to us all the time, it's really just simple algebra, just solve for X and Y :)
P.S. It's 8 MINUS 7 Raf... so you were still wrong in a way... ... :D :D :P

What's '^'?
GeorgeMichael

Exponents, like... 3^3 is 3 to the power of 3 or in other terms 3*3*3

You can't actually solve an equation with two variables in it unless it's a system of equations. You can solve for y in terms of x (sqrt((671/16) - x^2) or x in terms of y (sqrt((671/16) - y^2) but that's about it.
Now, just because I was highly amused when I first saw this, this was a problem from Round 2 of the University of Maryland Math Competition (you have to be in calculus to take this, and only the top 10% make it to round 2) but this isn't actually calculus:
There was a young lady named Chris
Who when asked her age answered this:
"Two thirds of its square
Is a cube, I declare."
Now what was the age of the miss?
(I'm not kidding, a limerick on a math exam. There was also a question involving hobbits and rubles.)

congrats Starry, I thought people would actually try but you win :)
is she 9?
ok, here's my next one.
(sqr rt) (-1) (sqr rt is square root :) ) just give me the letter :P
Starry

i. :]
And the limerick answer was actually 18 (144 works too, but well, "young"...)
Now, let's see who remembers logarithms! ln(e) = ?

You kids are out of your minds.
Its summer break and you are doing math problems?
Screw that!
Shaun

ln(e) = 1
Although I had to cheat because for the life of me I can't remember it off the top of my head and I haven't had to use my scientific calculator in 4 years...and I can't remember were the e function is.
Now for mine, which doesn't involve all these annoying confusing questions. Good lord people, I said easy stuff or stuff that was kinda hard only because of the way it's set up or something, not logarithms and crap.
3(4-7)+(3+2*2)=x(3+4-1(7*2/3))/15
Solve for x

... ... this is confusing with all the disorganization things that computers do because my answer came out to negative 3.733... and so on with 3's ...
is that right>?

I hate math.
:P
I've always been more into art, biology, PE and Ancient History. :D

o.O
No freakin' idea, XD
Okay, here's more of a riddle one.
Make eight 8's equal 1000

Dear God, this thread is revolting.

If you really want to ask us math questions, at least give us something interesting. -points at sXe_Jinxeh's question- I don't understand that riddle at all, but if I solved it (and I did try for a while), at least I would gain some feeling of satisfaction.
Solving for x in your equations leaves me with an empty feeling inside my heart. Why am I wasting time with this? I'm perfectly capable of solving for x. I don't need to demonstrate this to my fellow young writers that are online. What I do need to demonstrate is my FRICKIN' NOVEL.
WHY AM I EVEN POSTING IN THIS THREAD?!?
Edit: This thread really isn't that revolting. I just felt like shouting my opinion.

3(4-7)+(3+2*2)=x(3+4-1(7*2/3))/15
Solve for x
-2=7/3 x/15
-14/3 x=15
x=15/(-14/3)
x=3.21 (or thereabouts)
So, you're pretty close George. I might be a little off.
Anywho, how to eight 8's equal 1000?
No clue.

That sounded real emo back there! :D
Oh, and I think you multiply 8 by 125. 8 x 125 = 1000! Right? Right?

GUYS, GUYS, I GOT ONE!
Okay so..
WHY WAS SIX AFRAID OF SEVEN?!?!?!
HUH? HUH?
ANYONE?
Rafael Domination

Duh! Because seven is bigger by one. And mind you, 'one' can make all the difference! Ever heard about Neo? What was his title? This is such an easy question!
Sheesh!

 You guys must be crazy or something. How does that even mean anything but a yukky mess? O_o
How do eight eights equal a thousand? My type of question, we used to do riddles like that in primary school. :)
answer: (8*8)+(8*8)*8-(8=8=8)=1000 ?
